Tuari Walker
Tuari's artistic journey began at the tender age of six, as he began to mimic the drawing styles of his favorite cartoons and anime. He was enrolled into Saturday Enrichment Art classes at the African American Atelier located in Greensboro, North Carolina where he gained hands on experience in techniques such as printmaking, sculpting, and textile art. At thirteen, Tuari was exposed to professional artistry during the first Murals, Minds, and Community summer program at the African American Atelier.
The experience of muralism at this young age confirmed Tuari’s deep-seated desire not only to pursue professional artistry as a career but also to create conversation pieces for all who engage with his work. Tuari spent eight years working alongside a group of muralists before embarking on his solo endeavors. He began exhibiting in juried shows, art exhibitions, and eventually established his creative persona, “Micah the Artyst,” in 2018, which became his business in 2022.
Since the founding of “Micah the Artyst,” he has showcased his work in galleries across North Carolina. Notably, he has exhibited through Splashworks during the High Point Furniture Market and his canvas reproduction “Black Boy Meadows,” featured in HomeGoods stores nationwide.
